Who is Sheykhul Mujahid Abū Muhannad As-Sweidāwi?

This is a translation of a brief biography of one of the Islamic state leaders that was recently martyred – Abu Muhannad As-Sweidāwi. The Islamic state named the ongoing battles in Anbār after him. These were the battles through which Allah enabled the Islamic State conquer the city of Ramadi on 16th May 2015.

NOTE: This article was being spread in twitter and was translated by us to deliver the message to the English speaking supporters of The Khilafah. Also the article has been edited abit to give a wider picture.

Abū Muhannad As-Sweidāwi (Also known as Haji Dawūd or Abū Abdisalām) was among the leaders of Islamic state and one of its pillars. He was a practicing scholar and a highly experienced military man.

He was appointed to administer some of the important centers in the Islamic State; he was the governor of Al Anbār towards the end of his life and was the fuel of its battles.

He was among the closest people to Sheikh Abū Mus’ab Az-Zarqāwi and Abū Abdurahmān Al Bilāwi (May Allah accept them all). [Al Bilāwi was the architect of the recent victories of the Islamic state in Iraq i.e. the 2014 victories in Anbaar,Mosul(Nainawa), Salahudeen and Kirkuk. The Islamic State official spokesman Abu Muhammad Al Adnani eulogized him in the audio statement “Whatever good that befalls you, is from Allah”]. As-Sweydawi and Bilawi were friends both in childhood and in Jihad.

As-Sweidāwi was determined in his matters never compromising on the religion of Allah, harsh against the enemies of Allah. Humbleness and kindness is what we saw in him; he used to be soft with his soldiers and was held in high esteem among them. He liked the Muhajireen so much and was patient with their shortcomings.

I heard that he witnessed the first and the second battles of Fallujah. He was very brave and an ideal leader. He would advance with his soldiers during the battles and would inspire them hence strengthening their determination. He planed the epic battles in Al Anbaar and participated in them. He also planned the Abu Ghuraib prison break and Allah opened it through his hands. Mere words are insufficient to describe the status of such men.

He got martyred by a crusader airstrike after many years of combating the enemies of Allah. May Allah have mercy on you O noble shaykh.

Of the believers are men who are true to the covenant which they made with Allah: so of them is he who accomplished his vow, and of them is he who yet waits, and they have not changed in the least. [Suratul Ahzāb 23]

The Following article has been taken from Ansar Al Mujahideen English Forum(AMEF).It was posted by one of the brothers may Allah have mercy on him on 14/5/20112.

As-salâmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakâtuhu

I would like to share some characteristics of the martyred Sheikh Abu Mus’ab az-Zarqawi (May Allah have Mercy on him) from those who saw him, who sat beside him, who lived with him in Fallujah and Ramadi, and from what I saw because I had the honor of seeing him once, from a distance. He (may Allaah have mercy on him) was looking for a brother from biladul Haramayn(The Land of the two Holy Mosques) who was injured during fighting in Fallujah, and we had taken him to the Mujahideen’s hospital in Al Muhamadiya, and this is where I had the honor of seeing him.

I do not know why I write these lines, perhaps because I miss him a lot, perhaps because today I bought bread and cookies that I distributed to the children of Ahl -Sunnah among the Muhajireen(emigrants), for I intended this to be charity for the Lion and I asked the children to invoke Allah for the Sheikh.

1 – When you saw him, you would remember the name of Allah, and His Grace. May Allah have mercy on him, he was so joyous, and smiling but his eyes were never dry of tears, especially during the prayer of Al Fajr(Dawn prayer), the du’aa which he repeated the most was: “Oh Allah, I ask for Your pleasure on me, and on those who left in Your Path “

2 – He was quiet despite the difficulties, and was fearless. He knew no fear save the fear of Allah.

3 – His modesty would amaze you. One day he was at the Al Al Mu’adhidhi to pray ‘Asr, and there was an old man who was paralyzed. The man was having difficulty in putting on his shoes. So Sheikh Abu Mus’ab sits down next to the old man, and he helps the old man in wearing the shoes. The old man seeing this, begins to cry and told the Sheikh: “O my son, you made me blush” thereupon Sheikh Abu Mus’ab embraced the old man’s head, and left the mosque .

4 – The Sheikh was very sweet. A Mujahid said: “One day, the Sheikh was driving. On the road, he saw an old woman carrying bags too heavy for her.The Sheykh then ordered the driver to stop. Then the Sheikh alighted the car, and took the bags himself to the house of the lady, she did not know that it was Abu Mus’ab who carried the bags for her.”

5 – He was patient and forgiving when someone attacked him personaly, but he would turn red with anger when the rights of Allah are encroached upon. One day, an insolent in Fallujah, comes to him and says to the Sheikh: “O Abu Mus’ab, why are you in Fallujah to fight the Americans and the Jews, while their flags fly over Jordan, go back to your country and fight them there”. Some of the brothers stood up to correct that, but the Sheikh told them to sit. The Sheikh then asked the man to sit next to him, the he put his hand on his shoulder, and he could not hold back the tears(May Allah have mercy on him). Then he smiled at the man and said: “What is your name?” And the man replied, “What is the connection between my name and my question?” Then the Sheikh said, “My dear brother, if Abu Mus’ab’s fate in Iraq ends, do you think the mujahideen lay down their arms?” The man replied “no”, then the Sheikh continued: “Think of me as a servant in the service of your grandchildren, and your your great grandchildren and by Allah, I will not do anything that is not approved by Allah.Do you think that those who want the pleasure of Allah would harm a Muslim?” and the man said, “Yes you are right.”

Then the sheikh said to him; “So have the good news that if Allah wills,By Allah, you will not see that from me either(i.e. harming a Muslim)”

After the sheikh finished talking, the man wanted to kiss the hand of the Sheikh, but he (may Allaah have Mercy on him) took his hand away in time. The man then said, “By Allah! they lied to me, they said you are an unjust leader, and it has occurred to me now that you are nobler than everyone I have seen”

After the Martyrdom of Sheikh Abu Mus’ab, I saw this man again and today he is part of a brigade of the Islamic State of Iraq, all Praise be to Allah. Today he is among those who love the Sheikh the most, and I heard that he distributed water and dates in the streets and told people: “Pray to Allah that He has mercy on Sheikh Abu Mus’ab Az-Zarqawi and that he admits him to Jannah”

6 – His courage. All those who participated with him in the battles would say that he was the first to attack the enemy and the last to retreat. He was light and quick in his movements, he had great determination, a beautiful body, he was neither fat nor thin neither small nor great. One day after a battle, one of his companions said to him: “O Sheikh, you advance too far into the enemy lines, which is dangerous, we fear for you! ” Here the Sheikh laughed and said nothing, and his companions understood what he meant. In another instance he said this: “I fear that Allah will ask me about a piece of land that I abandoned in which I was able to trample and slay a crusader. By Allah, the more I advance towards the enemy, the more I get hungry for more blood. But in reality it is only one of the two good things, either Victory or Martyrdom”

He would carry on his shoulders dozens of the mujahideen wounded in the battle, he would donate blood to the hospital for his brothers.

There are alot of things we do not know about the Sheikh. He would perform ruqya(exorcism) on the sick. One day a Mujahid came to him and said: “O Sheikh, my son is sick, he does not sleep at night, he cries all the time, and he has been this way for a year now” The Sheikh told him to bring his son to him. He loved children , he would forget the world when he was with a child, he would play with them and make them laugh. So the man brought his son to the Sheikh, and the Sheikh recited a long prayer over the child holding his head, gave him water to drink, and washed his face with what remained of the water. The child’s father later said: “By Allah, my son never cried after that day” it was also said that the father changed the name of his son to Abu Mus’ab az-Zarqawi.

That is all I could remember about this man that I love with all my heart, and for that reason, I broke my hand hitting the wall when I heard of the news of his martyrdom.

My eyes have not dried (tears) O Abu Mus’ab.
May Allah have mercy on you, and grant you Paradise.

And peace be on you, and Allah’s mercy.

Stretch Forth Your Hands To Give The Bay’ah To Al-Baghdaadi

A Treatise By Sheykhul Mujahid Turki Bin Ali

All Praise belongs to Allaah the Guider and Benefactor, Salutations and Peace upon the one who was sent for all the city dwellers and desert folk, and upon his family, companions and whoever follows them in goodness until the day of assembly.

As for what follows:

This is a short article to rouse the believers towards giving the Bay`ah to the Khaleefah Ibraaheem Al-Badri As-Saamarraa’i Hafidhahullaah.

His noble lineage:

He is the Shaykh, the Mujaahid, the Ascetic Worshipper, Ameerul Mu’mineen and leader of the battalions of Mujaahideen, Abu Bakr Al-Qurashi Al-Husayni Al-Baghdaadi, from the grandsons of Armoosh Ibn `Ali Ibn `Eid Ibn Badri Ibn Badruddeen Ibn Khaleel Ibn Husayn Ibn `Abdillaah Ibn Ibraaheem Al-Awwaah Ibn Ash-Shareef Yahyaa `Izzuddeen Ibn Ash-Shareef Basheer Ibn Maajid Ibn `Atiyyah Ibn Ya`laa Ibn Duwayd Ibn Maajid Ibn `Abdir Rahmaan Ibn Qaasim Ibn Ash-Shareef Idrees Ibn Ja`far Az-Zakee ibn `Ali AlHaadee Ibn Muhammad Al-Jawwaad Ibn `Ali Ar-Ridhaa Ibn Moosaa Al-Kaazhim Ibn Ja`far As-Saadiq Ibn Muhammad Al-Baaqir Ibn `Ali Zaynul `Aabideen Ibn Al-Husayn Ibn `Ali Ibn Abi Taalib and Faatimah Bint Muhammad Sallallaahu `Alayhi Wa Aalihi Wa Sallam.

Ibn Katheer says in his Tafseer: “Do not deny the bequest regarding the Ahlul Bayt, and the command to be good to them as well as honour and respect them, because they are from a pure lineage, from the best households to be found on the face of the earth, from the point of honour, nobility and lineage, especially if they are followers of the true, clear, certain Prophetic Sunnah, like how their forefather Al-`Abbaas Radhiallaahu `Anhu and his offspring were upon, and `Ali with his household and offspring Radhiallaahu `Anhum Ajma`een.”

Imaam Ahmad reports in his Musnad from Al-`Abbaas Ibn `Abdil Muttalib Radhiallaahu `Anhu who said: “I said O Rasool of Allaah, indeed when the quraysh meet one another then they meet them with good faces, but when they meet us then they do so with faces that we don’t recognise. So Nabi Sallallaahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam became very angry and said: “I take an oath by Allaah that Eemaan will not enter the heart of a person until he loves you for the sake of Allaah and for being my relative.””

His Journey Seeking Knowledge:

Shaykh Abu Bakr Al-Husayni Hafidhahullaah was brought up in a house of goodness and piety, and flourished by love for the Deen and to be successful, until his studies took him to the academy of Islaamic Studies, he graduated from the Islaamic university in Baghdaad after having completed therein his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees. The Shaykh has a wide knowledge of history and noble genealogy, and has mastered the ten Qiraa’aat of the Qur’aan, and this is from the success that Allaah has granted him intending to use him for goodness. It comes in the Saheehayn from Mu’aawiyah Ibn Abi Sufyaan Radhiallaahu `Anhumaa from Nabi Sallallaahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam who said: “When Allaah intends goodness for a person He grants him understanding of the Deen.”

This is the second reason to honour this noble man, because Imaam At-Tabaraani and Al-Haakim have reported from Hadhrat `Ubaadah Ibn As-Saamit Radhiallaahu `Anhu from Rasoolullaah Sallallaahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam who said: “He who does not honour our elderly, have mercy on our youngsters and recognise the rights of our scholars, then he is not from my Ummah.”

Imaam Abu Daawood reports from Hadhrat Abu Moosaa Al-Ash`ari Radhiallaahu `Anhu from Rasoolullaah Sallallaahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam who said: “Indeed it is from the Grandeur of Allaah Ta`aalaa to honour an elderly white haired Muslim, and the bearer of the Qur’aan who does not overstep the limits (By doubting anything mentioned in it, or misinterpreting it etc.) or turns away from it(By not acting upon its commands and prohibitions, doesn’t recite it, or doesn’t recite it with its rules etc) honour a just ruler.”

There exists within Shaykh Abu Bakr something which is not found in many others; Knowledge which links to Nabi Sallallaahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam, and a lineage which links up to Nabi Sallallaahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam.

The honourable Shaykh has personified that which was related from Hadhrat `Umar Ibn Al-Khattaab Radhiallaahu `Anhu – which is reported by Imaam Al-Bukhaari Rahimahullaah – when he said: “Study and get an understanding of the Deen before you are appointed as a leader.” So he did not move from his position until he had gained a proper understanding of the Deen. He went from teaching to being the Imaam and Khateeb in many Masaajid in Iraq, from there he went on to being placed in charge of a group of Mujaahideen in Iraq, then to being a member of the Mujaahideen Shooraa council, to being in charge of the general committee overseeing the running of the provinces of the Islaamic State (of Iraq), then being the leader of the Islaamic State of Iraq receiving the Bay`ah from the Shooraa council as well as the Ahlul Halli Wal `Aqd, and after the passing of some years under the Bay`ah of this Imaam the boundaries of his state reached the regions of Shaam, thus he became the Ameerul Mu’mineen of the Islaamic State of Iraq and Shaam, and after just more than a year Allaah granted victory at the hands of the Imaam and purified vast expanses of land in Iraq and Shaam from the filth of the Safawis, Nusayris and apostate Sahawaat, and he spread therein the law of Islaam, and the announcement of the Islaamic Khilaafah was made on the first of Ramadhaan in the Hijri year 1435, and Abu Bakr was given the Bay`ah as the Khaleefah of the Muslims.

His Efforts and Jihaad:

This virtue would not have happened (if the Shaykh were to live in peace) but it did not happen – after it being the Grace of Allaah – except because of his continuous giving and fruitful efforts, because he had donned the garments of war years ago and not removed it since, and he confronted all the sly plotters without fearing anyone, there was nothing easy for him and his sacrifices knew no limit. The way the Shaykh rose up from the time when the Americans entered his land to repel the audacious enemy from his Deen and honour, and created a group of Salafi Jihaadis that fought the enemies bravely and faced many trials and tribulations.

Then the Jihaad in Iraq took off in full swing, and the enemy was weakened and came close to death, so the Ahlul Halli Wal `Aqd created a Mujaahideen Shooraa council, so the Shaykh and those Mujaahideen with him joined it, then the clear victory happened, and the armies conquered many towns, villages and provinces, and announced it to be part of the Islaamic State wherein the servants of Allaah are ruled by the Book of Allaah and the Prophetic Sunnah.

At this juncture the Shaykh undertook a great amount of difficulty, in travelling throughout the provinces listening to the complaints of the people, sitting with the young and the old, the rich and the poor, to rule amongst them with the law of Al-Lateef Al-Khabeer.

At the same time the Shaykh also used to visit the tribes and clans, as well as the Jihaadi groups and the armies of Eemaan, calling them towards unity and rejection of breaking into sects and discord. He would discuss with them in a completely neutral manner and with justice, and would call them towards giving the Bay`ah to the Ameerul Mu’mineen – who at the time was – Abu `Umar Al-Baghdaadi (Rahimahullaah), and the people responded to him from the old to the young.

Then the groups from the Murtaddeen, the Raafidhah and the Ahlul Kitaab joined forces, and they attacked the Islaamic State as a united front, so much so that the Muslims suffered the loss of both Shaykhs – Abu `Umar and Abu Hamzah – in one battle!

But then after them came the honourable Imaam, as the Mujaahid Shaykh Abu Muhammad Al-`Adnaani Hafidhahullaah said: “We are such people Alhamdulillaah that we are not struck but that we increase in power and solidity as a result, so when Abu `Umar fell we said “Where will we get another leader like Abu `Umar?” But then Abu Bakr rose in his wake, and what do you know of Abu Bakr? If you were to ask about him, then he is a Husayni, Qurayshi, from the progeny of the pure Ahlul Bayt, a practising scholar as well as a devout worshipper and Mujaahid, I saw within him the `Aqeedah, endurance, fearlessness and aspiration of Abu Mus`ab (Az-Zarqawi), as well as the tolerance, justice, guidance and humility of Abu `Umar (Al-Baghdaadi), alongside the intelligence, resourcefulness, determination and patience of Abu Hamzah (Al-Muhaajir).

The adversities have taught him much, and the tribulations have polished him further. After spending eight years in Jihaad drinking from those rivers, until he became the person whose opinion everyone looks for and who they rely upon, he is a person who to gain closeness to Allaah is deserving of having his feet washed and kissed, and to call him Ameerul Mu’mineen, and to ransom him with one’s wealth, life and children, and Allaah is a Witness upon what I am bearing witness to.

And the Shaykh acting upon his knowledge is the third reason why he is loved by every person who researches and seeks the truth. There are many other reasons, and abundant virtues to love and respect the Shaykh.

As for those who don’t admit to these virtues, and who finds fault with the Shaykh while he is a criticising insulter, then let him burp elsewhere away from us, because it doesn’t harm us but rather only makes himself look bad.

Some Doubts and its Answers:

If it’s said: “Are the conditions to be a Khaleefah found in Shaykh Abu Bakr AlBaghdaadi?”

The conditions to be the Khaleefah are those which have been mentioned by the `Ulamaa of Islaam, which are established by the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the best of mankind. Not those which have been stipulated by the modern countries or what the oppressive United Nations decides.

Imaam Badruddeen Ibn Jamaa`ah says regarding the conditions of a Khaleefah: “There are ten conditions to qualify for it and they are:
1: The Khaleefah must be male
2: Free (not a slave)
3: Have reached the age of puberty
4: Sane
5: Muslim
6: Just
7: Brave
8: Qurayshi
9: A Scholar
10: Adequate to be able to see to the political affairs of the Ummah and its wellbeing.

So when a person with these qualities is given the Bay`ah, and there is not an existing Khaleefah, then his Bay`ah and Khilaafah will be established, and it will become obligatory to obey him as long as it is not in disobedience to Allaah and His Rasool Sallallaahu `Alayhi Wa Sallam.”

(References: Tahreerul Ahkaam Fee Tadbeeri Ahlil Islaam, as well as Ar-Rawdhah, AlAhkaamus Sultaaniyyah and Ghiyaathul Umam.)

Ameerul Mu’mineen Abu Bakr Al-Husayni has fulfilled all of these conditions, and not one of the conditions was he found to be lacking, not the obligatory ones nor the recommended ones.

If it is said: “How can the leadership of Shaykh Abu Bakr Al-Baghdaadi be valid when all the people have not given him the Bay`ah?”

It is not a condition that all the people give the Bay`ah, in fact it’s not even required for all of the Ahlul Halli Wal `Aqd to give the Bay`ah, but rather it suffices for those of the Ahlul Halli Wal `Aqd to give the Bay`ah who are available to do so.

Imaam An-Nawawi says in the explanation of Saheeh Muslim: “As far as Bay`ah is concerned, the `Ulamaa are in agreement that it is not a condition for the Khilaafah’s validity that everyone should give the Bay`ah, nor even all of the Ahlul Halli Wal `Aqd. But rather the condition is that a group of `Ulamaa, leaders and ordinary people who are available to do so to give the Bay`ah.”

This is also the view of Shaykhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah and others.

Al-Qalqashandi says in Ma’aathirul Anaaqah: “The eighth condition – and that is the most correct view according to our Shaafi`i scholars – is that it (i.e. the Khilaafah) becomes established by those who are able to be present at the time of the Bay`ah in that place, of `Ulamaa, leaders and otherwise ordinary people who qualify to bear testimony, so much so that if the matters of authority depended on one man who is obeyed (and he gives the Bay`ah) then it will suffice.”

The leadership of Ameerul Mu’mineen Abu Bakr Al-Baghdaadi Hafidhahullaah had become complete when he was given the Bay`ah by the Ahlul Halli Wal `Aqd.

As for the condition that all of the Ahlul Halli Wal `Aqd has to give the Bay`ah then that is the belief of the Mu`tazilah, and the condition that every person must give the Bay`ah then that’s the view of the democrats. So let those who oppose the Khaleefah check with which group’s words they are speaking.

If it is said: “How can the leadership of Shaykh Abu Bakr Al-Baghdaadi be valid when he had conquered some of the regions through force and not through receiving the Bay`ah of the Ahlul Halli Wal `Aqd therein?”

Those regions which the armies of Shaykh Abu Bakr Al-Baghdaadi Hafidhahullaah had conquered were under the control of people who ruled by other than the Sharee`ah of Allaah Ta`aalaa, and to remove the land from such people by force is the pinnacle of Islaam (i.e. Jihaad), in fact even if the Shaykh Hafidhahullaah were to take it from Muslim rulers who were ruling according to the Sharee`ah, it would become obligatory upon them to listen and obey him as long as it is not a sin that he is commanding and as long as he rules according to the Sharee`ah.

Haafidh Ibn Hajar has reported Ijmaa` (consensus) on that point and said: “The Fuqahaa are in agreement upon the obligation of obeying the ruler who came to power through force, and to fight Jihaad alongside him, and obeying him is better than rebelling against him because it will prevent bloodshed and allow the people to live in peace.” (Fathul Baari)

Shaykhul Islaam Muhammad Ibn `Abdil Wahhaab said: “The scholars from every Madhab are unanimous that the person who one or two towns, then he has the right of rule as the Imaam in all matters, and were it not for this then the world wouldn’t be able to function, because mankind from ages ago, before the time of Imaam Ahmad until this day today, have never agreed upon one ruler.” (Ad-Durarus Saniyyah Fil Ajwibatin Najdiyyah)

Some Kind Advice:

To those who fight in the path of Allaah and are still continuing to do so, who spend their lives and everything they hold dear to repel the audacious enemy. To the leaders of the various groups and the chiefs of the tribes: Has the time not come for you to unite with your brothers? To establish and strengthen your Islaamic State? Because the enemy has united to fight you all, so unite to fight them. They have come to you with their armies, so cut off their road. Because by you uniting and joining the Islaamic State there will be honour and strength, as well as aid and a clear victory, and before anything else, it will be obedience to the Lord of the worlds.

O elders and leaders, and O people of authority and leadership: If you regard yourself to be equal to the Shaykh and Ameer, or that he’s lower than you in virtues and goodness, then humble yourself to the truth and so not consider yourself to be better than others.

So stretch forth your hands to give the Bay`ah to Al-Baghdaadi!

How strange it is that some people – who are not amongst you – are pleased with the Bay`ah of a Taaghoot for years, but he is displeased with the Bay`ah for Ameerul Mu’mineen.

To conclude, we congratulate the lions of the Islaamic State with the coming of Shaykh Abu Bakr, and we congratulate all the Muslims on their Khaleefah, for what a wonderful Islaamic State it is and what a wonderful Khaleefah he is, and woe to the one who hates and insults it.

Our final call is that all Praise belongs to Allaah the Lord of the worlds, Salaah and Salaam upon the most noble of all Anbiyaa and Mursaleen.

Biography of IS Spokesman Abu Muhammad al-Adnani ash-Shami

Written by Sheikh Turki bin Mubarek al-Benali Published on Justpaste.it on November 1st 2014

al-hamdu lillah, the one who gives guidance, and salatu’ wa salam alal sadiq al amin, and his family and companions, as for what follows:

The likes of Sheikh Mujahid Abu Muhammad Adnani, may Allah preserve him, does not need a an
explanation or definition, as the the people of ilm say:

“The well-known does not need to become known!”

Despite this, recent times bear testimony to much of the abuses and infringement the icons of the nation and its’ prominent individuals face, the heroes of the Millat (The straight path turned to) and its’ horsemen. We heard the uneducated and refuted Hani al-Sibai, attacking our sheikh with fabrications, forgery, and vile adjectives, degradation from every angle. And, As the Arabs say:

“Repeated again and again, it comes forth as true!”

So, I desired to propagate a brief explanation, a brief statement, to Faris and Sanan, Tunis and it’s people, and to enrage the enemies!

Muslim narrated in his Saheeh from Ibn Sirin, rahimu’Allah, that he said:

“They did not ask us for a valid chain of narration, when they sowed the fitnah (discord),they said, we have seen your men narrate, and we narrated as we understood ahlus-Sunnah wa jam’ah to narrate hadith, and to the people of innovation their hadith is not taken.”

Part one
The Demand for Knowledge

The sheikh grew up with the love of mosques and with attending them frequently in his youth, and his hobby was reading upon reading from when he was a young boy. This was to the extent that when his family desired to buy him gifts he was more impressed with stories and brochure that conveyed knowledge and he held them with passion with a preference to them over toys! Something stood out about him from the norm from a young age, as he was reading whatever he could lay his hands on, including books on language and the principles of language, amongst others.

Then the Qur’an passed from his throat, may Allah preserve him, as he began qira’ with those who recited the Qur’an. He memorized the Qur’an as a young man, may Allah preserve him, and became proficient in its’ recitation in less than a year!

The insatiable sheikh, may Allah preserve him, began to expand his reading —o al-Uloom al- Shari’a -; he began books on tafsir, and fell in love with “Tafsir ibn Kathir,” which he read repeatedly. He then moved on to “In the Shadow of the Qur’an,” and on to “In the Shadows of the Shadows.” He then began the writing and studying of al-hadith, with the most important being the two sahihs “Bukhari wa Muslim” and as he was fluctuating between them, he also read the books of fiqh. Our leader has a passion for books by Imam Shawqani, rahimu’Allah, especially “Na’eel al Aw’tuar” and books on the fiqh of jihad, which he read, — for example — “Mash’ra al-Shawaq” more than three times! This is beside the books of sira and history which held great importance for him, especially “Al-Bidayah  wal Nihayah” which he read six times, and the study of the written Arabic language. And literature is endless, art is art.

He went on to read Sheikh Jal’s book of adab known as “Al-Bayan wal Tabi’een” and “Laqad al-Faree” amongst others. He read the collections of the speech of the Arabs and their sharh, alongside memorizing much of their poetry, and I believe it was the musta’har of the court of Mutanabi that said about al-mutanabi:

“I don’t know what I’m seeing, but it is as if I am seeing the Arabs in al-jahiliyyah and in Islam!”

And as a dars “Al-Ajrumiyyah” and after it “Qet’uar al-Nadee” and then “Al-Fayee’atu ibn Malik” and their explanations. He pursued “The Tongue of the Arabs” and saw multiple perspectives.

It is accredited to the people of ilm that they are upon the guidance of those guided by guides. The weight, worth, of each man is the good which he has wrought and the ignorant are to the people of ilm enemies.

Part two
His Prominent Sheyookh

The sheikh drew from the ilm of books, as well as deriving it from the breasts of men, he studied under a number of sheyookh in al-Sham. As the conditions of Syria were insecure due to the severe grip of the tyrants, the sheikh, hafidhu’Allah, and his peers met privately to receive and administor lessons on a regular basis for several years. It was from these conditions that Allah, the exalted, caused the sheikh to travel to Iraq to complete his search for knowledge and to prompt the sheyookh there for knowledge. Among the most prominent of whom he benefited from: Sheikh Abu Anas al-Shami, rahimu’Allah, the sheikh and his family took full advantage of him and his knowledge.

The sheikh said in two verses of poetry:

The Lion of Iraq, Abu Anas “He forgot the hardship and was in ease. He was a sea of knowledge, in war an engineer, and in hadith.”

In the ink of hadith, and in politics, few surpass the sheikh Abu Maysara. The strange thing, rahimu’Allah, is that were the companions of the sheikh in captivity or freedom, they benefited from him. And the sheikh, in captivity or freedom, benefited from them.

Amir al-Mu’umineen, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, hafidhu’Allah, upon hearing Adnani recite the entire Qur’an from memory, said:

“I have never seen such memorization, except to save ones’ life!”

Do not take ilm except through the bastions of ilm.

“Through knowledge we live and with the soul we thrive.”

Those who are jahil offer their councils but they have strayed from guidance and are blind.

Part three
Some of His Writings

There was a time where the sheikh, hafidhu’Allah, was accused of being narrow and they continue to accuse him of so, yet most of what he wrote is complex versified poetry! Among the most prominent of what he wrote and weaved that is from versified poetry:

Part four
Lessons and Teaching

The sheikh, hafidhu’Allah, cared especially for the education and teaching of the mujahideen in the cause of Allah, until a day came where fourteen lessons were given by day and night. His efforts were dedicated to the study of shari’a in general, the teaching of aqeedah, Qur’an, the language (Arabic), and the fiqh of jihad.

The mutoon (summarized texts) studied most for aqeedah were,

Al Usool-al Thalata. (The Three Fundamental Principles)

Al Qawaa’id al Arba’ah. (The Four Rules)

Sharoot wa’ Nawaqid La Ilaha il Allah. (The Conditions and Nullifiers of La Ilaha il Allah)

He was also interested in teaching the matters of faith and disbelief in regard to these    serious pathways.

The Qur’an; Halaqat were held to correct recitation, halaqat for recitation, and the sheikh was keen onteaching those who do not know how to read or write more than others.

As for the language (Arabic), it was taught upon the following matn (summarized text),

The sheikh, hafidhu’Allah, has a special method of teaching the six forms of nahw, taken from some of those he benefited from.

In the Fiqh of Jihad, he taught: Kitab fe’ Fiqh al-Jihad wa’ Masalat, Al-Umda fe’ Adad al-Adat, Amongst other books and texts.

Part Five
His Most Important Positions

The sheikh, hafidhu’Allah, entered work in jihad organizations from the beginning of the two-thousanth year by the Gregorian calendar. He swore allegiance to sheikh Zarqawi, rahimu’Allah, in Syria with thirty-five others, and set off to prepare for the start of fighting the Nusayri regime before the Americans entered Iraq and traveled to it. Then left sheikh Abu Muhammad Al-Lebnani, rahimu’Allah, to Iraq. With the blessing of Allah, he is still struggling in Iraq and Sham since then, and the most important positions the sheikh has had:

Instructor, in the early days at, camp al-Tawhid wa’al Jihad.

Amir at the inauguration of Sheikh Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, may Allah have mercy upon him.

Instructor at Camp Al-Jazeera.

Unsurpassed Shari’ in Western Anbar.

Head Official spokesman for the Islamic State of Iraq.

Head Official Spokesman of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.

Head Official Spokesman of the Islamic state — Dawlat al-khilafah.

Part Six
Some Difficulties and Tribulations

The road through al-Tawhid wa’al Jihad was fraught with afflictions and triblations, it was not safe from breakage or amputation or squeezing difficulty! However, the victor is the one proven with patience, and it has been said:

“If the beginning is incineration, the ending is not brightness!”

Sheikh Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, hafidhu’Allah, was not but one of sons of this road and suffered what Allah wrote for him to suffer, and to Allah is his account.

It so happened to him that, He was summoned by the Nusayri state security agency repeatedly from early on in his youth and was interrogated. He was arrested three times by the Nusayris on the pretext of preaching jihad, once in Abu-Kamal on his way into Iraq for the first time. He was jailed for months and was let go for refusing to disclose information, despite the injuries sustained due to torture.

He was imprisoned by the Americans twice, and was once jailed for nearly six years. He was put in a tent with Zarqawi and other prominent individuals who knew the first line of fighters with Zarqawi, rahimu’Allah.

Part Seven
Some Situations in His Life

Here are some chosen examples of the sheikh’s, hafidhu’Allah, academic life, dawah, and influential positions in jihad:
In an early halaqah for recitation of the Qur’an, it occurred in the heart of the sheikh that he would be the best reciter from among his peers, as he had a hobby of reciting. When it came his turn, it happened that his recitation touched the heart of the older sheikh (the teacher). Sheikh Adnani insisted upon the mastery of the Qur’an, recitation of it, memorization, and he was soaring above his peers.

“…And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed — then it is those who are the disbelievers.” – [al-Maida: 44]

The sheikh prompted one of his peers, as the ayah shook him to his depths, for knowledge, “What are the sources of the Constitution of Syria?”

He (his peer) replied (that it is secular),

Then the sheikh said: “What of the legislative branch?”, “What is the judicial authority of the executive branch?”

The peer answered him as he had learned in school, the shaikh said, “O’, so our entire government are kufar!”

So then his friend said to him: “As salamu alaikum!” and he ran away! Such was the principle of the sheikh on such matters. (Immediate obedience to the words of Allah upon hearing them.)

On one occasion, which he was summoned by the by the Nusayri intelligence service early in his youth, a taghout soldier said to him:

“Why do you grow the beard?”

The Sheikh replied: “Because I read several ahadeeth about Prophet, salAllahu alaiyhu wa ala alaiyhu wa sahbihi salam, in urging it,”

A taghout soldier said: “Were these ahadith disclosed only to you, then?”

They also confronted him about the shortening of the thawb (to sunnah length above the ankles), and then a taghout soldier said to him: “You did not move your finger in the ta’shahud,”

The sheikh would only move it occasionally, and he replied by saying that he abides by the Prophet, salAllahu alaiyhu wa ala alaiyhi wa sahbihi salam,

Then a taghout soldier said, “The problem is that you are like this during the night,” and he made the indiciation of a finger of tawheed, “and during the day so” and he made the indication of a finger comitting zina! The sheikh said, “The one who performs jihad does not feel such vile desires!”

He went out one day, in Iraq, accompanied by three of the brothers to Akmen’oa. He was uncovered by apostates and was chased for a nearly eight-kilometer drived, it even happened that an accident occurred because of the intense speed. They were chased by two groups, and the sheikh went down, followed by Abu Bakr al-Kuwaiti, behind a rock. They clashed with the apostates from nine o’clock AM to the twelfth hour, and they were upheaved a distance of three kilometers in the desert during this engagement. Then they descended into a valley. The apostates withdrew after they told the Americans a small group of millitant terrorists were in the valley, so the Americans came with tanks and six aircrafts.

The Americans began by firing two missiles, killing Abu Bakr al-Kuwaiti directly in front of the eyes of the sheikh. The sheikh suffered serious injury, but had not lost his weapon, and continued fighting and getting wounded until he became tired, bloody, and out of ammunition. The groups left during the afternoon, the fourth quarter of the day, and praise to Allah is before and after.

Part Eighth
Some Subtleties in His Life

From the blessings of Allah on the sheikh during his career in the search of knowledge, dawah, and Jihad, is that,

He memorized Suratul Maida in its’ entirety in just one day.

He first began working in jihad with thirteen others, and the modern independance of the Muslim land ison their hands.

The early amir, whilst Adnani was under his command, Sheikh Abu Umar al-Baghdadi, rahimu’Allah, saidwhen consulted by sheikh Adnani at the time: “It will be for this man the whole affair (of jihad)!”

He was the last to withdraw from the city of Fallujah in the second battle of Fallujah with sheikh Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, Abu Ghaidyah, Abu Rabee’a, Abu Ja’far al-Maqdisi, and Abu Asim al-Jordani.

He spent much of his life in rabat, and during so, he would have competitive games between himself and sheikh Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, rahimu’Allah, competing with lines of poetry!

From his privileged status is that the sheikh, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, rahimu’Allah, of whom none knows his status but Allah, the amir of the martyrs, said: “Do not consult me on matters, just brief me.” (He trusted Adnani so much that he allowed him to make executive decisions independently.)

From his hands graduated a large number of students who have taken prominent positions in the Islamic State, including the narrator, Sheikh Manaf, Allah’s mercy upon him.

He was the first to develop a comprehensive program for prisoners that covered all aspects; shari’a,physical strength, and military tactics. This was taught to all youngsters in all areas.

Final Part

These are some of the news in the introduction to the ballista of the Islamic state, the mujahid Sheikh Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, hafidhu’Allah. We did not rely on heresy, he says, he said, but what we knew originally and what we have a valid chain of narration for.

“ …we did not testify except to what we knew. And we were not witnesses of the unseen” – [Yusuf: 81]

We ask Allah to prolong the life of the sheikh, to purify his deeds, to make straight his words, and to prove him to be upon truth until his time on this earth is finished.

And the last of our call is alhamdulilahi rabbil ‘alameen, and may salat and salam be upon His prophets and messengers.
